All right, let’s get it over with!!

Yikes! Definitely up quite a bit since the last weigh-in before Christmas. And I’m much too close to my self-imposed “danger zone” border line (200 pounds) for comfort!

However, it’s not QUITE as bad as it could have been. Mainly because of this AWESOME WEIGHT LOSS TIP I’m happy to pass on to you, my loyal readers, for FREE! to wit:

  1. If you don’t like your weight, go back to bed for an hour. Then weigh yourself again. 99.99% of the time, it’ll go down! And if it doesn’t, you’ve now got TWO weights to choose from!

Isn’t that amazing, kids? I’m sure there’s a completely scientific reason for it that I’m not qualified to explain, since I’m definitely not a scientist! But for some reason, THIS ONE WEIRD TRICK works for me, and therefore it must have tons of scientific validity behind it!

So you totally have my permission, on this Wednesday, January 8, 2020, to go back to bed! (If your boss gives you a hard time, tell them you visited a hypnotist yesterday and it hasn’t worn off yet.)

See ya next week!

Happy 2020! It’s Resolutions Time!

Hey, everyone, happy 2020! Are you stoked for making New Year’s resolutions? Well, good! My first resolution:

1. Use more “woman yelling at cat” memes — they’re comedy gold!

2. Learn how to do origami!

3. Learn to make paper flowers!

4. Make all the paper beads I cut out from Trader Joe’s Mini Ice Cream Cones boxes last year and never got around to finishing, as well as all the other crafts I’ve started and abandoned at various points.

5. Make sure any and all resolutions I make this year are completely, 100% negative-consequence-free!

6. And finally, if there’s time and I feel up to it, keep writing all these fun blog posts that are kinda sorta peripherally related to my continuing efforts to maintain my more-or-less 50-pound weight loss!

Yeah, well, I’ve had a lotta “enhanced” eggnog tonight, so sue me!

So on that note, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my loyal readers! Join me NEXT Wednesday for the first weigh-in of 2020!!

Bonus Post: Wisdom from Two Utes of Today!

Hey everyone! I’m still officially on vakay, but since my niece Rachel and her pal Ashley are still busily keeping THEIR blog, “Simply Us,” up to date, I thought I’d share with you one of their recent posts, with a whole lot of wisdom in it! Enjoy!

New Year New Me. New Year’s Resolutions and Tips for Sticking To Them

First Weigh-In of 2018, and um, well …

Good morning, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours! I’m sure your holidays were filled with lots of scintillating conversations about religion and politics, in which each person expressed his or her viewpoint in an atmosphere of complete tolerance, love, and acceptance, as with all family get-togethers.

Meanwhile, after last week’s Friday Five, you probably won’t be altogether shocked to hear that my weight went UP just a scosche. To wit:

mr bill

Oh well. As I said, I wasn’t entirely shocked. In fact:

i meant

Well, anyway, I kind of planned ahead for it, mentally. And there is a thing called a “diet break” that some fitness gurus recommend – even good ones, like Jay at aworkoutroutine!

7. Take Diet Breaks When Needed

… The exact definition of what a diet break is will vary based on who you ask, but I think of it as a 1-2 week period where you come out of the deficit and back up to maintenance level for the purpose of briefly allowing all of the things that suck about fat loss to recover and go back normal for a little while.

So yeah, THAT’S why I gained 1.4 pounds! I was taking a legitimate 1-2 week period to let my body recover from fat loss! I WASN’T just sitting around eating stroopwafels and egg nog! Sounds legit to me!

And even if it doesn’t – what the hell, it’s less than 2 pounds. Chances are most of it’s water (well, water and egg nog) and I’ll drop it by next week. Anyway, I’m not gonna worry about it. It’s a new week – and a New Year! Which means everyone else on the planet is going to be joining me in my weight loss endeavors. I’ll have lots of company at the gym, for a few days, anyway!

Me, my goals are more modest – just to keep doing what I’ve been doing for the past couple of years.

So what about you? How did you weather the storm that was the holiday season (weight-wise or otherwise?)? Hope it was relatively calm! Any resolutions you plan to keep? Let me know in the comments.

Meanwhile – have a WONDERFUL New Year’s Day!
