Let’s try this again, shall we?

Okay, so now that I’m COVID-free, I’m gonna try the Phoenix vacation again next week.

Which means I won’t be posting one of the wonderful blog posts you’ve all come to know and love!

So this week, instead of talking about COVID and complaining about the patriarchy, how’s about I talk about how I’m doing with Weight Watchers?

The answer is, well, okay!

I mean, I do like the concept of having all sorts of “free” (aka Zero Points) foods. However, unlike calorie counting, there seems to be a lot less room for me to decide to do an all-junk-food-but-still-within-my-calorie-limit-for-the-day day, if I feel like it!

Not that I want to do that all the time! However, from time to time, especially after a really good workout (and I’ve been having some good ones lately, as I’m focusing on weight lifting and calisthenics), I find myself craving a slice of good ol’ 7-11 pepperoni pizza!

Now, according to 7-11, that slice is 300 calories. I’m skeptical about that, so I always just make it 400, to be safe. Still, that’s not bad for what is essentially my lunch, right? But in Weight Watchers, that slice comes out to a whopping 10 Points (depending on who you ask!), and since I’m only allotted 18 Points per day, that’s a rawther big chunk, yea verily!

Yeah, that’s right, on their new Personal Points plan, I get 18 Points per day, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but I do get a lot of “free” (Zero Points) foods — fruits and veggies, chicken, turkey, tuna, oatmeal, etc. — which theoretically fill me up enough that I only need to use the Points for things like, oh, bacon bits on my salad, or Ranch dressing on my salad, or, you know, other stuff on my salad.

In other words, the “Zero Points” foods are supposed to be the basis for your meals, and the 18 Points are the “extras.” Which sounds great in theory, but y’know, every so often, I still want that verkakte pizza!!

So I’m still kinda feeling my way around this thing. Maybe I should alternate WW days with calorie-counting days, especially on workout days, so I can do my own thing.

I’m definitely planning to do more calorie counting on my trip, since it is supposed to be a vacation, kinda sorta! (although if it’s anything like the last times I’ve gone to visit my family, I’ll probably need a vacation FROM my vacation, when I get back!)

On the bright side, this time around, I’m going to see Cousin Margaret, this blog’s #1 Fan, for the first time in — what’s it been, kiddo, decades? Well, at least a few years! So that’s something to look forward to, right? And of course, who doesn’t want to spend their vacation time with family?

Haha, just kidding, Mom and Dad! I’m sure it’s going to be a fabulous time in good ol’ Phoenix, AZ, and I’ll look forward to relating all the gorey details to you, loyal readers, when I get back!
